Comprehensive Cancer Care, Guided by
Excellence and Humanity
Founded in 1954, Fundación Arturo López Pérez (FALP) is a Chilean nonprofit cancer institute
dedicated to expanding timely access to comprehensive cancer care, with a preferential commitment to those who need it most.
Through highly specialized-care, prevention, research, education, and social support, we work
to ease the personal and social burden of cancer in Chile.
Discover how we’re advancing cancer care in Chile.
FALP was founded in 1954 by Ana Ross, widow of Arturo López Pérez, with a clear vision: to create an institution devoted to the care of people affected by cancer.
That founding vision still guides everything we do: expanding timely access to comprehensive cancer care, with a special commitment to people in vulnerable circumstances.
We believe cancer care goes beyond medical treatment. It means standing with patients and
their families at every step of their journey, bringing together clinical excellence, compassion, and a deep sense of social responsibility.
Our Purpose
“To expand timely access to comprehensive cancer care, with a preferential option for the
most vulnerable, in order to ease the personal and social burden of cancer.”
Our Social Healthcare Model
At FALP, excellence and access go hand in hand. Our Social Healthcare Model brings together a high-complexity cancer institute—dedicated to care, research, and training—with a solidarity based financing system that helps ensure no one is left behind for economic reasons.
It combines medical excellence with social impact: the same institution that treats the most
complex cases also works every day to open its doors to more people who need them.
Comprehensive, Highly Specialized Cancer Care
FALP’s Cancer Institute brings together specialized medical teams, advanced technology, and multidisciplinary expertise to deliver comprehensive care at every stage of the cancer journey.
From diagnosis and treatment planning to personalized therapies, supportive care, and long-term follow-up, our care is designed around the needs of each patient.

Multidisciplinary Decision-Making
No single specialty holds every answer in cancer care. At FALP, specialists from different disciplines review each patient’s case together, combining clinical expertise, diagnostic findings, and scientific evidence to define the most appropriate approach to diagnosis and treatment.
FALP has 13 multidisciplinary committees (tumor boards) covering specific cancer types and broader clinical areas. More than 90% of our patients have their case reviewed by the relevant committee at least once during their care.

Part of an International Network of Cancer Institutes
FALP is accredited by the Organisation of European Cancer Institutes (OECI) as a
Comprehensive Cancer Center—the first in Latin America to earn this designation—and is a member of OECI’s international network.
A Comprehensive Cancer Center brings together leading clinical expertise across all major
cancer types with translational research and specialized training in oncology, all within a
single, integrated institution.
This recognition reflects our commitment to international standards of quality and to
collaborating with cancer institutes around the world.

Bringing Specialized Cancer Care Closer to Communities
Across Chile
Chile’s geography creates real barriers to specialized healthcare: high-complexity cancer
services are concentrated in Santiago, far from many of the people who need them. FALP is
expanding its regional presence through a network of cancer centers connected to its Cancer Institute in Santiago, combining on-site care with tele-oncology and prevention and early-
detection programs.
Our goal is simple: comprehensive cancer care closer to home for patients and families across
the country.
